Beneath the streets of Chancery Lane, deep within the vaults you will find Baranis, a beautifully eclectic bar that captures the unique charm and magic of Provençal life.
There is a fantastic wine list that includes authentic regional options and some mouth-watering and unusual cocktail combinations such as the Lychee and Lavender Martini and the Thyme Daiquiri. To truly embrace the flavours of Provençe make sure you try le pastis as an aperitif or one of their mixes such as Pastis de Marseille or Pastis de Cours. The food menu is a more casual alternative to their sister restaurant upstairs, Cigalon, and is specifically designed to compliment the drinks on offer at the bar. The choices are simple and fresh offering up regional specialities such as Socca, Pizetta and Blue cheese and Pear Crostini- they have also recently added a burger described as ‘out of this world’ by barchick.com.
The ambience is laid back and welcoming with discreet booths and playful artwork from the 50’s, set against the shabby brickwork and chic white tables and chairs. The pièce de résistance is the UK’s only indoor Pètanque court were you can try your hand at France’s famous game of Boules- a fantastic way to unwind after a busy day and keep the night fun and entertaining.
Baranis is the perfect place to experience top notch Southern French cuisine in the city. Open Monday 3pm – 12 midnight, Tuesday – Friday 12 midday – 12 midnight.
