Camden Beach, The Roundhouse

Yes that’s right; there is a beach in London.  When the sun is out and your days are work free, what more would you want than to relax on a beach soaking up the sunshine with a cocktail in hand? Fish and chips maybe? Tick. Deck chairs and beach huts? Tick. Maybe even some live music? Tick!

The Roundhouse theatre has created a simulated beach on their terrace in North London for all to experience and the best thing is it’s for free! The open terrace has been covered in sand and all the usual things one would expect from a real beach. The one thing they can’t afford to bring to the venue however is the sea, but I think we can make an exception considering there’s live entertainment, delicious food and great party atmosphere happening.

Camden Beach is open to the public until Saturday 23rd August, hosting two pop up restaurants- one serving different types of the traditional fish and chips and the other serving a sizzling American Barbeque.  There is also another food hut featured at the beach called the ‘Doghouse,’ offering hot dogs to feast on, and of course- it wouldn’t be the beach without an ice cream van nearby!  Lastly, for some lighthearted beach activity, there is arcade games, ping pong and air hockey.

If you are interested in being there for the live music these are the dates you need-

August 2nd – Urban Soul Night- with Joel Baker, hip hop artist Cynikal, JJ Soulx, and DJ Milo.

August 9th– Accoustic- experimental guitarist Phil Maguire, fellow finger-picker Jack Allett and DJ Fauxlo.

August 16th – Indie Acoustic Night- features Vanessa Gimenez, Sophie Blackburn and Ellekaye as well as a DJ set by Manish.

August 23rd– Reggae from Whitney Williams, Iam1, Tempting Rosie and DJ Emmanuel.

If you’re worried about queues you can always book a beach hut which will give you lots of added perks including a BBQ platter and ice cream! All we need now is the sun…:P
