Ok so here at QL we don’t usually include chain restaurants but for Ed’s Easy Diner we are going to make an exception. Why? Simply because it’s one of the most fun places to grab a burger in the city.
Situated in Euston, Mayfair and Soho each restaurant is a throw back to the bygone era of the fifties. Step foot inside and you could easily feel as though you’ve been transported to the set of Grease, the only thing missing is the swinging skirts, high pony tails and teddy boys in leather jackets. In every other aspect Ed’s have recreated the classic 50’s style American diner with careful attention to every detail. The colours are bright and cheerful, there are red leather clad chairs, big glass windows and even a mini jukebox near every table so you can chose from a selection of 50’s classic tunes that will play in the background as you tuck into your food. And the food is the other reason to go to this place, chose from a fantastic menu crammed full of juicy burgers or hot dogs with fries and wash it all down with one of their signature milkshakes- the oreo one is guaranteed to send you to your happy place!
It’s fun, it’s retro and a completely original alternative to the predictably downbeat, flat atmosphere you can often expect from many fast food chains. We have to say we like the original Ed’s Easy Diner in Soho best, the location is fantastic in the heart of theatre-land and the diner itself is beautifully designed with customers seated on high chairs overlooking the waitress serving drinks up and taking orders. With delicious food, an uplifting soundtrack and friendly staff it’s no wonder Ed’s Easy Diners continue to thrive 50 years after the first one opened, we’d eat there every night if our waist lines let us!
