When you think of Christmas you probably dream up images of softly falling snow, rosy-cheeked carol singers, steaming mugs of mulled wine and of course, the essential ingredient of all Christmas joy- the wigwam. The wigwam?! I hear you cry in tones of indignant dissbelief! But before you leap to judgment take a moment to imagine the cosy, festive scene that lies beneath its linen ceiling. Head inside and you will find a giant schenkengrill serving up such barbequed delicacies as apricot and herb stuffed pork loin and sloe gin pulled lamb shoulder.
Next, wander over to the bar and enjoy some festive flavoured drinks such as ‘Hot buttered Rum,’ inspired by Mary Berry’s bake-off, the equally scrumptious ‘Grandma’s Whiskers’ or the delectable ‘Mulled Cider.’
Now you have that glow in your belly it’s time to warm your mittens (or toast a marshmallow or two) at one of the various pitt fires dotted around. The bar is decorated with vine leaves, there are real moss-covered tree-stumps to sit on and a woodland soundtrack playing softly in the background- this is not just Christmas, this is Christmas Pagan style!
But don’t take our word for it, make sure you head up to London’s favourite rooftop bar to warm your toes and savor the experience for yourself. The Wigwambam can be hired for private functions and is on now until the end of March 2015. There are lots of exciting events happening too as they join up with the wonderful Drink, Shop and Do so keep an eye out on the Queen of Hoxton website for details.
